Paper Mache Sculptures
These pieces are part of a series of papier maché sculptures depicting human organs and covered in old maps, found papers, and paint. I was inspired by a trip to the Mutter Museum of Medical History in Philadelphia, where I saw exquisite paper mache models of organs from the 19th century that were used for teaching anatomy. I was inspired by the beautiful shapes and colours and I started making hearts for friends, soon expanding to a whole line of organs, including brains, eyes, kidneys, and lungs.
